Millie Rahn
11 Evans St. Watertown MA 02472-2147 [email protected]
MILLIE RAHN is a Boston-based, Canadian-trained folklorist whose work involves developing and presenting living cultural traditions throughout New England and, increasingly, the Midwest. Projects include curating traditional arts for the Lowell and National folk festivals; consulting to other regional festivals; serving as folklorist/oral historian for the Folk Music Archive Project at the Passim Folk Music and Cultural Center; and producing concerts, exhibitions, and documentaries. She also writes and speaks extensively about the 1960s folk revival; and serves on U.S. federal and state funding panels for projects involving folk culture. She has been among a select group awarded National Endowment for the Arts fellowships to study issues related to sustainable folk arts programming in the U.S.
An FA member since 1994 and current board member, she will continue to bring her professional skills to programming and education, and is running for a second board term in part to continue outreach work to the music industry, expand the breadth and diversity of membership networks to support the Strategic Plan, and be a voice for New England and Atlantic Canada in particular.
A musician manque, Millie's contribution to the music world is to play the tape recorder.
